Chieftains of Lochbuie

Lorne Maclaine of Lochbuie is the chieftain of Lochbuie

Hector Reganach

  • Founded MacLeans of Lochbuie, Dochgarroch & Kingerloch
  • Reganach recieved a charter to the land from John 1st Lord of the Isles
  • There is a story that Hector, upon finding his new estate already occupied, devised a plan to gain control of the situation. He asked MacFadyen for permission to build a shelter to protect his cattle from raiders. He then proceeded to build a keep. When the fortress was finished Hector climbed up to the top and shot an arrow. Hector was known as a great archer, and he must have been, if this story is true. MacFadyen was eating under a tree nearby and the arrow pierced the bone he was eating meat from. MacFadyen then decided that it would be wise to move his household further away from MacLean.
