- Kidnapped, with many other Chiefs, by the King's (James V) Lord Lieutenant at a dinner on board ship off Aros Castle . They were taken south to Edinburgh , where they were forced to agree to the terms of the Statutes of Iona, under which they lost much of their sovereignty over the islands. Hector himself was only released when he agreed to the destruction of all his galleys.
