The Clan Maclean

You've probably noticed that the site has changed quite a bit. With over a hundred hits a week, it was time to put the site to good use. Instead of just a repository of research snippits about the Clan Maclean, the site's goal is to become a comprehensive repository of historical information about the Clan Maclean, it's chiefs, leaders, kin, friends, foes, battles, allegiances and happenings--in short, its history.

It isn't enough to just list facts, although that's how much of the information is currently recorded. This site's goal is to put a face on our kin and add perspective to our history. More research will be done and gaps will be filled in. Individuals with noting—Chiefs, Branch Founders, Notable Kin, etc.—will have a full biography to help explain their roll in history and information about them as people, beyond simple markers on a time line.

This is a daunting task, and hopefully will be completed within a year. Durring the process, you may see empty or un-written pages. Although it looks unprofessional, we are doing it intentionally to both let everyone know that we are in fact aware of particular individuals and events and to encourage participation. If you are interested in our Clan history, we'd love to hear from you. We need people to research and fact-check, particularly in Scotland. If you would like to help in any way, contact us.
